Doing Your Logo
This tutorial has been created as a continuation on the shatter tutorial, and covers the techniques used to create the simple logo and text that appeared on my final rendition:

Step 1.) 1.) Open a new document, or a pre-existing document. I'm using a 500 x 500. Fill the background with black. |
Step 2.) Create a new layer.Now get out the () elliptical marquee tool and make a selection like this in the center of the canvas: Now hold down the ALT key on your keyboard (you'll notice a little - 'minus' symbol next to the cross hair to indicate deselect mode) and deselect a portion of the oval like so: |
Step 3.) Set your foreground color to: # and your background color to: # Get out the Gradient fill tool () and set it up like so: Fill the selection with this gradient form top to bottom so you have something like this: Press CTRL + D on your keyboard to deselect this area. |
Step 4.) Press CTRL + J on your keyboard to duplicate this layer. Go to Edit->Transform->Flip Vertically. Now press 'V' on your keyboard to get out the move tool and reposition the copy a little bit. You can also press CTRL + T to resize it a bit. I've made mine a little smaller here: Optionally get out the Rectangular Marquee tool () and make a selection similar to this, and tap DELETE on your keyboard to remove some of the selection, as l've done here: |
Step 5.) Next press CTRL + E on your keyboard with the top-most layer selected/active to merge these two layers together. Now press CTRL + J on your keyboard to duplicate this layer. Click once on the original layer underneath the duplicate we have just made: Here we'll add the "glow". Go to Filter->Blur->Radial Blur, and apply these settings: Result: Now go to Filter->Add Noise and apply these settings: Next go to Filter->Blur->Radial Blur and apply these settings: Now change the blending mode of this layer to "Luminosity". Now press CTRL + J on your keyboard to duplicate this layer, and make it a little brighter. Result: |
Step 6.) Double click the top-most layer again (the one without the blur) and apply the following blending options to this layer: Inner Glow Bevel and Emboss Satin Stroke: Change the blending mode of this layer to "hard light" Result: Now press CTRL + J on your keyboard to duplicate this layer, and change the blending mode to "overlay" to give it a little bit of a highlight: Result: |
Step 7.) Now we'll add the text to this create. Set your foreground color to white #FFFFFF get out the text tool, and select a font that you like. Here l'm using a font called Bitsumishi with a size of 35pt, you can download it for free here. Here's how my text looks after positioning it near the center of the canvas with the move tool: Double click this layer, and apply the following blending options: Outer Glow: Bevel and Emboss Gradient Overlay: Stroke: Result: After tinkering around a bit with the colors and opacity of a few of the layers, here is what l ended up with: If you'd like to learn how to create the shatter background please click here to read it!
